An IMC Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner performs clinical evaluations, assesses problems, initiates diagnostic and treatment plans, and educates patients presenting for care.​ ​ He or she complies with all rules and regulations set forth by the Texas State Board of Medical Examiners and maintains continuing medical education.​  His or her responsibilities also include duties assigned by supervising physician.​  He or she must be licensed as Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner to practice medicine in Texas with free and clear DPS and DEA numbers. An IMC Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner must poses superb clinical skills, a caring and confident demeanor,  preferably experienced with EMR systems, or if not– with the ability to learn them.  He or she must have excellent bedside manner, must be dependable, have emotional control, be team oriented, have good verbal communication skills, and contribute to a caring and committed clinic environment. An IMC Physician Assistant or Nurse Practitioner presents a positive image of IMC at all times.​ He or she treats patients, staff, physicians, visitors and all others with care, concern and courtesy.​  He or she responds quickly and appropriately to patient requests.​ He or she suggests new or revised services to meet customer needs, as well as maintains strict confidentiality.​ He or she works cooperatively with others, responds quickly to request for assistance, listens carefully, negotiates agreements to resolve conflicts and keeps appropriate people informed about problems and concerns.​

ESSENTIAL JOB DUTIES

* Ensures optimal patient care services by leading and coordinating health care delivery within the context of the physician’s health team.​
* Identifies potential medical and surgical problems by conducting physical examinations; recording patient histories; preparing patient workups and summaries; recording normal and abnormal data and tentative conclusions for review by the physician.​
* Provides direct patient care under physician supervision by explaining the necessity, preparation, nature, and anticipated effects of procedures to the patient and/​or patient’s family; completing laboratory studies; performing diagnostic and therapeutic procedures, including but not limited to minor surgical procedures and interpretation of EKG’s.​
* Monitors patient progress by carrying-out patient care services, maintaining patient records and consulting with supervising physician when appropriate.​
* Improves patient care quality results by studying, evaluating, and re-designing processes, implementing changes and focusing on patient satisfaction.​
* Serves and protects the IMC community by adhering to professional standards, clinic policies and procedures as well as adhering to all federal and state requirements.​
